The 6:21 Club

Here's the theory: between 7 and 10am the breakfast show is really busy.  The phone rings itself off the hook with birthday mentions, traffic updates, listener requests etc. and the emails and texts come flooding in.  However, during the earlier part of the programme, between 6 and 7, everything is eerily quiet.

This is why the 6:21 club exists.  It's a breeding ground for the early risers; a meeting place; an exclusive, members only club where those glassy-eyed, sleep-craving members of the Aylesbury Vale accumulate before the rest of the world has come to life.  We can't tell you much more about it; you'll just have to listen in to find out what the benefits are, and how you can join.

TASKS:  As a member of the club, occasionally you'll be set some homework.  This will be brief and without much effort and aimed at enriching the life of you as a member and those around you.  It's kind of like being in a secret society.  On completion, expect rewards...

As presenter of 'Hits and Headlines Drive' at Mix 96, you'd previously have wondered why Nathan is up and about at this ungodly hour.  However, having recently conducted his genes into a new generation of Mini-Cooper joy, he is experiencing the trials and tribulations of early morning feeds as a new father, bless him.  We should include his little one as an honorary member too...

Polly

Nobody is sure where Polly came from, but she crept out of the fabric of the morn from Tring recently, and we're very pleased to have her wit, charm and aplomb in the glorious secret society.

Wendy

Wendy is a brand-new member who can often be found ironing her clothes for work (totally at the last minute) at 6:21AM.  She has a fabulous lifestyle and goes out for dinner with friends as often as possible.  (NB This suddenly sounds like a dating website, so I just want to make it clear that Wendy, lovely though she is, is married. Thanks, Ad)

Sarah

Always listening whilst getting the husband (and kids) ready for work (and school) in the wee small hours of the morn.

The breakfast chef in a local care home is often ladling porridge whilst listening to the secret goings-on of the 6:21 club...

Donna is a teacher and enjoys all of the benefits of being a seasonal member of the club.  Her membership is revoked during the holidays because it makes everybody else too jealous that she's sleeping in!
