“Boarstall Tower” John Waller (National Trust) - Weston Turville Historical Soc.
Boarstall Tower and moat were constructed soon after King Edward II granted John de Haudlo a license to fortify his mansion house in 1312. The immediate vicinity of the Tower has hosted an abundance of important historical events and is the subject of a famous and intriguing 1695 etching by Michael Berghers. There has been a great deal of archaeological activity over the last two decades helping to unravel its story. Boarstal Tower is about half an hour’s drive from Weston Turville, but unfortunately will be closed for further renovation by the time of the talk. The last tour is Wednesday 28th September, so visit really soon!

John Waller has been a National Trust volunteer guide at Boarstall Tower since 2003 and also volunteers at Berkhamsted Castle.
The meeting starts at 8pm in the village hall and is open to all. Entrance £2 for members and £3 visitors. Doors open at 19:30 for welcoming refreshments. For further information about the Society visit the Society’s web page www.WTHSoc.org.uk or email Secretary@WTHSoc.org.uk
