Festive Family Fun
It was Christmas Eve, Clara and her little brother, Fritz, were listening at the ballroom door, waiting for the party to begin…………… there were Nutcracker Soldiers everywhere ……….. this is how it was when Godfather Drosselmeyer came to stay, and this is how it will be at this year’s Festive Family Fun Day in Aylesbury Town Centre, on Sunday 11th December. From 11am until 4pm in Friars Square and Market Square enjoy the magical box of delights on offer; with graceful ballet dancers performing sections of the classic, enchanting Nutcracker ballet; live singing; The Sugar Plum Fairy and Toy Soldier on stilts; a mesmerising crystal ball manipulator; and magical performances on a unicycle. With games, crafts and activities inspired by the Nutcracker, alongside balloon modelling and face painting, all for FREE and in the warmth of Friars Square. Here you will also find the maps, which will take you on a Giant Nutcracker Trail around the town, get all the answers correct to be in with a chance of winning £200 of vouchers to spend in Friars Square.

Then venture outside into Market Square to the captivating sounds of the traditional barrel organ, enticing smells of the hot roast chestnuts and the excitement of Fun Fair rides – also all for FREE.

Then later at 6pm join us at St Mary’s Church for Carolfest – please see the separate event listing.

Christmas should be a time for families to relax and enjoy time together, but in our busy schedules this isn’t always possible, this year come and join us at 6pm in St Mary’s Church for Carolfest. This is a relaxed and informal carol service, with no religious content, where you are invited to help fill the church to the rafters with traditional Christmas Carols in a very relaxed, warm, friendly atmosphere. Children from Oak Green School along with Caduceus Brass Quintet and The Wingrave Singers will lead the carols, with Dez Kay compering the evenings singing. We will be serving tea, coffee and hot chocolate (with the possibility of a mince pie or two) courtesy of Tesco Tring Road and the Matrix Scouts, raising funds for the Mayor’s charity, Space. You and the children can wander round the church whilst enjoying the singing and the entire family can get into the festive spirit with a good old Christmas sing-a-long.

Carolfest takes place after a full day of activities in the town centre – please see the separate event listing for Festive Family Fun, for more information.
