Halloween Family Fun
The long lazy days of summer might be over, and it’s not quite time to start thinking about the big December event yet, but we all need something to look forward to!! So this half term, bring your little monsters, aliens, ghosts, wizards, witches and children along for an afternoon of free family Halloween fun and entertainment in Market Square from 3 until 6pm on Thursday 27th October, courtesy of Aylesbury Town Council.

The very popular Pantoween, will be back again, with “It’s behind you” gags and “Oh no it isn’t” jokes, and this year we are thrilled to announce that the Pantoween will feature a very special guest appearance from a certain green Monster with blue and yellow spots (of the Mix96 variety).

For the fearless amongst you there is an opportunity to get up close and personal with a variety of spiders, bats and snakes, with a traveling reptile roadshow from Impeyan Productions.

If dancing is your thing, come and join the Spotlight Musical Theater group, who will be teaching and performing the classic Michael Jackson, Thriller routine.

There will also be Halloween themed crafts to create and take home, games and activities to take part in, along with an amazing face painter to inspire your creations for the witching hour. All for free.

Prizes are in store for the best Halloween fancy dress costume and carved pumpkin, to be judged by the Mayor of Aylesbury at 5pm. So pull out your scariest outfit, dust off your broomstick and fly along to Market Square from 3pm until 6pm and let the Halloween hilarity begin.

Weston Turville Historical Soc. “There's None as Quere as Folk” Ian Waller
Most communities have their own traditions, peculiarities and dialect. Many of these originated in early history and through to the modern day. Much has been preserved in pictorial, written and even oral histories. Ian’s talk gives examples of such traditions (often humorous) and puts them into the context of village and town life.

Prior to retirement Ian Waller was a professional genealogist with over 30 years experience in English research. He was until recently Chairman of AGRA (The Association of Genealogists and Researchers in Archives) the body which represents professional genealogists throughout England and Wales.

He is a Fellow of the Society of Genealogists and has published several books in the Society’s “My Ancestor” series most recently “My Ancestor was a Leather Worker”.

The meeting starts at 8pm in the village hall and is open to all. Entrance £2 for members and £3 visitors. Doors open at 19:30 for welcoming refreshments. For further information about the Society visit the Society’s web page www.WTHSoc.org.uk or email Secretary@WTHSoc.org.uk

"Following Your Own Star" with Janet Bolton
We are so pleased that Janet has agreed to run a day workshop for us after her talk to us in May of this year. This is how Janet describes her plans for the day; she will show us simple hand sewing techniques, give us ideas for letting a piece develop as it progresses and will encourage us to work directly with the materials to hand rather than using ideas worked out in other mediums. Sounds great!
Do come and join us for a sociable, relaxing and productive day.
