Outdoor Events Benefit Blocky
My name is Kelly Knight and I am organising a fundraising event for a very good friend of mine Steven Jackman (Blocky).

Steven has grown up in Grendon Underwood for nearly 30 years and was a pupil at Grendon Underwood & Waddesdon School. He has been heavily involved with Grendon Rangers Football Club who he played for.

Not long ago, Steven was diagnosed with progressive MS. It affects the entire right side of his body, including co-ordination, balance /stability, muscle wastage, muscular contractions and fatigue. His condition means that by the end of the year he will no longer be able to drive his own car, so I wanted to help raise some money for him to put towards what he is going to need in the immediate future.
Steven has always been a close friend of mine, and whatever help myself and his friends can give him, hopefully it can be a good start.

The event is at The Swan, Main Street, Grendon Underwood. Buckinghamshire on Sunday 31st August, starting at 1pm. This day will include, Live Bands, Auction, Raffle, and a BBQ all to raise money for the Benefit Blocky cause.

Outdoor Events Parklife
On 30th and 31st August, Aylesbury Town Council and Aylesbury Church Network are celebrating their annual Parklife Weekend.

The weekend starts off with Proms in the Park on Saturday 30th August at 6.30pm and continues with Parklife on Sunday 31st August.

Aylesbury Church Network are inviting everyone to join them for a morning of Worship & Celebration with Church in the Park at 10.30am. Their Guest Speaker is Laurence Singlehurst who is Director of Cell UK and former Director of “Youth with a Mission”, England. He is a regular speaker at national events such as Spring Harvest and Cell conferences worldwide. Laurence is the author of several books including “Loving the Lost” and “Sowing Reaping Keeping”.

A Free Fun for All - Family Fun Day follows the service from 12noon. The Family Fun Day includes free BBQ, Games, Face Painting and Crafts plus new this year “We’re a Knockout”.

Teams of 6-10 people can register for “We’re a Knockout” either prior to the event or on the day. Each team will take part in round robin activities over a three hour time frame earning points. Teams with the most points will win. If you would like to register please contact datbam@gmail.com

The daytime fun draws to a close at 4.00pm and we switch to a festival vibe for the late afternoon and early evening.

We’re back to the main stage from 4.00pm until 8pm and Aylesbury Town Council are delighted to present a fantastic line up of live music from some brilliant local bands: The Dung Beatles, The Notations and also Bustin Loose.
The Dung Beatles are Danny Prendergast on lead guitar/vocal, Mike Ashton on drums/percussion, Steve Hillier on guitar/lead vocal and Phil Toler on bass/vocal.
In the words of Terry Bloxham, membership secretary of The British Beatles Fan Club “…The Dung Beatles are not your average Beatles tribute band…”. Although they always aim to dress smartly and uniformly, the overwhelming focus of their performance is on The Beatles music, rather than on the exact reproduction of their character performance, style and dress.
The Notations with Jeanette Bennett are an energetic good-time band playing the best in rock and blues and are looking forward to entertaining the crowds.
And back by popular demand are Busting Loose who will close the Parklife Weekend with their set from 7pm – 8pm. They play a broad range of material covering music from the 60s to current chart hits with a bit of everything in between, including hits by Stones, Wilson Pickett, The Who, Bon Jovi, Van Halen, The Jam, Madness, Specials, Robbie Williams, Coldplay, The Strokes, Kings of Leon and many more.

During the evening you can also relax, chill out and buy refreshments, including drinks from Aylesbury Brewhouse and there’s also tasty food for sale.
