Prehistoric Summer School
Topics vary each week, with fun and exciting activities to keep you little ones active over the summer holidays. The sessions are suitable for ages 6 to 16 years. Sessions cost £10 each or book all six for £50. Booking must be made my contacting us by email or telephone.

Introduction to Prehistory: Get to know the periods of the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age, find out more about the prehistory of Aylesbury. Prize for best costume. Lunch will be provided.

Prehistoric Houses: What were they like? Where were they and how were they made? What materials were used? The activities are making your own prehistoric model home to take away using traditional methods, become part of a living round house. Lunch will be provided.

Prehistoric Tools: Find out about the evolution of tools from flints to Bronze and Iron Age tools. Learn about domestic tools and warfare and lost wax casting. Make your own cardboard sword, arrow head or spear. Lunch will be provided.

Prehistoric Cave Art: Explore the amazing works of Lascaux and Santander cave painting. Discover how they may have created them, making your own brushes. Have a go at your own cave painting with poster paints and make your own pigments. Lunch will be provided.

Prehistoric Pottery: Journey through time through pottery, look at genuine shards of Stone Age pottery and create your own replica masterpieces. Look at what pottery shards can tell us and some exciting famous archaeological sites. Lunch will be provided.

Live like a Stone Age Person: pull together all of the skills that you have learned over the previous workshops. Have fun role playing your life in prehistory, why not engage in tribal warfare and rise to superiority. Prizes will be given for the best costume. Lunch will be provided.
