LIGHTS OUT
“The lamps are going out all over Europe; we shall not see them lit again in our lifetime.” These were the words spoken by Sir Edward Grey, Foreign Secretary in August 2014, as Britain’s ultimatum to Germany was about to expire.

Lights Out is an invitation to everyone in the UK to turn off their lights from 10pm until 11pm, leaving on a single light or candle for this shared moment of reflection.

Aylesbury Town Council is inviting the residents of Aylesbury and surrounding areas to join them in a candle lit commemoration on the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War at Aylesbury Cemetery, Tring Road on 4th August at 10pm to 11pm. Together in word, prayer and reflection we will remember.

We will gather by the Great War Cross in the cemetery, which was erected 82 years ago in memory of local men killed during the war.

The event is a candlelight event and you are welcome to bring your own candle light. Limited edition Centenary candles will also be available from M&S stores across the Nation, with all profits going to The Royal British Legion.

Live Music Godiva
Calling all Mix96ers! Fancy becoming a local star?! We are Aylesbury's very own amateur musical theatre society and we're looking for new members, who would like to have a go at performing on stage. We start rehearsals for our new show, Godiva (as in Lady Godiva), on Weds 18th June in Aston Clinton. We are looking for someone to play the lead role (no, you won't be appearing naked on a horse!). There are a few roles for young men, too. No auditions required for general chorus. Can you support the local arts scene by becoming a TART (The Artfully Reliable Theatre Society)?
