Since launching the Crimestoppers' Most Wanted webpages in Thames Valley in September 2010, almost 40% of the 178 faces posted have been arrested - double the national average of 20%.

In just 18 months the charity's Most Wanted site has helped Thames Valley Police to locate and arrest 72 individuals featured on the webpages, proving that it's still a big hit with local residents across Buckinghamshier, Oxfordshire and Berkshire.

Julia Hughes, Projects Co-ordinator for the Thames Valley Crimestoppers charity told Mix 96, she puts local success down to the fact that residents and the media have supported Most Wanted right from the start: "With a success rate averaging one arrest every week, the Most Wanted site has proved itself to be an valuable tool for Thames Valley Police.  We urge every resident to visit the website every couple of weeks and see if they recognise someone. "

Just click HERE and click on Most Wanted.  Information can be provided to our charity with a simple call to 0800 555 111 or online.  We won't ask for your name or contact details; we're only interested in helping to solve crime, but we can't do this without your help."

Currently amongst the people Thames Valley Police are looking to locate are a man wanted for murder, several men wanted for rape offences, distraction burglars and people caught on CCTV.

Det. Chief Inspector Ray Howard of Thames Valley Police told Mix 96: "The public often hold the key to vital information about who is doing what locally and they are generally happy to inform the police directly.  For those who don't want to speak to us directly Crimestoppers can act as a 'middleman' providing a safe way to supply that information anonymously.  With the public's help we have already been able to locate significant numbers of criminals and we hope that they will continue giving us the vital information we need to keep Thames Valley safe."
