Wendover Man Jailed For Quarter Million Shed Stash
3:13pm 29th October 2012
A money launderer from Wendover, who was found with nearly quarter of a million pounds worth of cash in his shed has been jailed.
When police raided 46 year old Richard Clarke's house in April, they found 2 hundred and 17 THOUSAND Pounds, split between a safe in the house and 2 bags in his shed!
On 10 April 2012, officers carried out a search at Clarke’s home in Wendover, when the money was seized, along with two mobile phones and a large knife.
Forensics linked the cash to an organised crime gang from Bedfordshire - Clarke's been given 3 and a half years in prison.
During interview, Clarke conceded the cash was drug money, but gave a convoluted and improbable account as to how the cash came to be in his possession.
After the trial, His Honour Judge Sheridan ordered the money to be forfeited.
