City close to Fair Play reward

City close to Fair Play reward

Sven-Goran Eriksson could guide Manchester City into the Uefa Cup if the players behave themselves against Middlesbrough.

The Premier League has been given an extra place in the Uefa Cup next season because England is top of the European Fair Play League.

As a result, the Premier League team with the best Fair Play record will be entered into the competition.

City are currently fifth in the table but all of the teams above them have already qualified for European competition so City are in pole position to claim the extra place.

Eriksson said: "I am sure it will be a good, open game against Middlesbrough.

"They are safe and I feel they will want to show their fans what they can do. We go there with the same spirit and intent on getting a good result."
