Rory McAllister

Rory started presenting at the age of four in 1983 perched in front of his Dad's stereo

The imaginatively titled 'Radio House Show' was barely audible let alone credible, playing records taped off the radio. Although it received various critical acclaim from parents and Aunties alike during its transmission until 1986, the turntable broke down one day and a trip to Rumbelows was out of the question as Rory's pocket money was only a meagre 50p per week.

Later in life Rory moved into amateur musical theatre and will never regret playing the part of 'Third Bloke from the left' in "Paint Your Wagon". To this day it's still a particular career highlight. He should have won the Lawrence Olivier Award that year. We lost a whole tenner at the bookies betting on that one.

After studying at BCUC, Rory graduated and was then voted Vice President of the Students Union in 2000. This was Rory's first job. One major benefit of his new role was that he stagger in at midday and talk to colleagues instead of working. Rory edited the Students Union Magazine and got himself involved in everything. Like a rat, he was everywhere. But not poisonous. Rory then realised that rolling in at midday wasn't as good it seemed and decided to get a job where he'd have to get up earlier. This meant he could get home earlier and work on other side projects.

When Rory's Student Union days were over and after several appearances in Viz comic over the coming years Rory landed a job working for Madame Tussauds in London as a tour guide. A career in radio at this point in 2002 seemed to be a mere distant flicker of candlelight hope until Rory called a big London station and asked the presenter how he could get into radio.

After starting in radio as a promo boy in April 2003 at a station in Reading, Rory moved to Newbury presenting his own evening show, eventually leading to a Saturday afternoon slot. During this time Rory also appeared as several characters on some large regional stations across the UK and moved to Mix107 in High Wycombe for his first full-time gig in 2005.

Whilst enjoying the daytime slot and sitting on the National Network subs bench, Rory moved to afternoons at Mix107 in early 2007 and then onto the Mix96 Breakfast Show.

Rory lives with his girlfriend, Nicola and their West Highland White Terrier puppy called Ruby. Rory asked us to state that he didn't pick the dog's name.

Feel free to email Rory and have a chat if you want. He'll always try and respond in person and answer whatever it is you wish to ask him.

Rory would also like to add that contrary to popular belief, he's not under the thumb, cooks the evening meals, puts the bins out and still doesn't know how to programme a quick-spin 40 degree wash on his washing machine.
