The Shoulder of Mutton is full of the character and charm of a traditional British pub, perfect surroundings in which to enjoy excellent food, wine and cask ales. Situated in the small market town of Wendover, beautifully set in a gap in the Chiltern Scarp, the Shoulder of Mutton was first recorded on a map in 1620.
Our chefs take great pride and pleasure in continually creating new and exciting dishes, so in addition to the classic favourites on our new menu, don't forget to look out for our Chef's Specials alongside our Seafood Season which is running till the 10th October and our ever popular Game season which starts on the 11th October through to the 1st November. Join us for one of our game taster evenings when we will have a 5 course set menu, with a glass of wine for £18.99 so you can enjoy delicious dishes like Mini Wild Boar Burgers and Sweet Cherry Venison medallions.
At the Shoulder of Mutton we try and provide something to meet everyone's tastes so during the week we also have different menu's available including Vegetarian Wednesday's with a celebration of the seasons finest produce. Thursday is Curry night when you can choose any two dishes from our curry menu and a drink for £9.99, bookings are a necessity on Thursday! On Fridays come and enjoy our fish specials with a range of the best fish our oceans have to offer.
Our recent refurbishment has kept all the charm the Shoulder of Mutton is loved for, but now you can relax even more in our new look pub, with comfy armchairs and subtle lighting it is the perfect venue for a quiet meal for two, a celebration with all your family and friends, or the office Christmas party.
Our Christmas menu is available and we are filling up fast. Our festive menu starts at £16.99 for two course and it is available from 22nd November to 30th December, excluding Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Join us on Christmas Day for a 4 course feast with a choice of dishes ranging from Traditional Roast Turkey with all the trimmings to Lemon Sole in Champagne sauce. On Boxing day you can look forward to something a bit different with 3 courses including Leek and Wild Mushroom Torte then perhaps finish your meal with our home baked Winter Berry Crumble.
