Charity of the Year

This year we are supporting the fabulous work of Florrie's Children's Team, a specialist team of nurses and carers providing care and support to sick children and their families in the local area, in the familiarity of their own home, often ‘round the clock’.

This practical care can take the form of feeding, injections or dialysis, and also provides much-needed respite care for all members of the family, enabling them to remain in the comfort and security of their own home.

The team work closely with other health professionals and offer post bereavement support according to the individual family’s needs.

The service costs over £100,000 a year to fund.

Recently Darren & Katy at Breakfast stayed on-air for 50 hours, raising over £10,000 for Florrie's. You can still donate by clicking here

FlorriesHere's what some of the families who have been supported by Florries had to say about their experience;

“Our Florrie’s nurse is fantastic and is the only way we get worry and stress-free time away. She enables us to focus on our well children that have missed out on a lot due to hospital visits and sometimes we get time for just us (which is very rare).Our nurse is like part of our family, we all adore her. We wouldn't cope so well with the stress and anxiety of having a child with a life-limiting condition if we didn't have the help and support of Florrie’s.”

“This is just such a wonderful service. My child has confidence in the team to give the care that Mum and Dad would normally give”

We only have praise for the Florrie’s Children’s Team as they make such a huge difference to our lives – we would simply not be able to manage without them”

"Florrie’s provides invaluable emotional support and is a ‘sounding board’ for parents and child as they truly know what the family has to deal with”

“Support from Florrie’s enables us to enjoy quality time together as a couple”

“Gives me peace of mind - able to go out knowing our child is in capable hands”
