Outdoor Events Halloween Family Fun
The long lazy days of summer might be over, and it’s not quite time to start thinking about the big December event yet, however we all need something to look forward to!! So this half term, bring your little monsters, aliens, ghosts, wizards, witches and children along for an afternoon of free family Halloween fun and entertainment in Market Square from 3 until 6pm on Thursday 26th October, courtesy of Aylesbury Town Council.
All elements of this event are entirely free of charge.
The very popular Pantoween, will be back again, with “It’s behind you” gags and “Oh no it isn’t” jokes. Along with spooky magic and circus skills from the Great Gappo.
Artists from The Queens Park Arts Centre will guide you to make a Halloween lantern to take home with you. Along with games and activities to while away your afternoon, and amazing face painters to inspire your creations for the witching hour the following week. Be inspired by fantastic pumpkin carving demonstrations from Queens Park Arts Centre. This is a fun relaxed event, no shocks and horrors - purely great family fun.
Prizes are in store for the best Halloween fancy dress costume and carved pumpkin, to be judged by the Mayor of Aylesbury at 5:30pm. So pull out your scariest outfit, dust off your broomstick and fly along to Market Square from 3pm until 6pm and let the Halloween hilarity begin.

“The Washingtons of Tring”
“The Washingtons of Tring”
Murray Neil
Meeting on Friday 27th October, 2017

Our recent theme of exploring the local associations with George Washington and his family which started with talks about and visits to Sulgrave Manor continues this month with a talk by Murray Neil about their associations with Tring.

Murray pubished the book “The Washingtons of Tring” in 2013 and hosted an exhibition at Tring Museum in 2016.

A quote from “The American” Magazine.
“Murray Neil is a Brit with a keen interest in American History. On a tour round Civil War sites in Virginia his long suffering wife Janice announced that she was “battle fielded out” and
suggested visiting Ferry Farm where George Washington chopped down the famous cherry tree. Neil was not keen, but is now grateful as the trip gave him the inspiration for this booklet – inadvertently, as they ended up at Pope’s Creek Plantation where George was born.”
