Junk Metal Sculpture (2 day course)
2-day course in junk metal sculpture
Saturday 5th - Sunday 6th August, 10am - 6pm (approx)
with Nicholas Packham

Day 1
This will include a trip to the scrapyard to source suitable bits and pieces for your modelling project. Bring £20, but £10 may be enough and will give you plenty to work with.

Please feel free to bring any scraps you may have at home which you would like to use (not baked bean cans!), this must be steel, for welding purposes or have holes which can be bolted together. You will take your treasure back to Nick's workshop and start to plan your sculpture.

A chat with your fellow attendees and Nick will get the creative juices flowing and help inspire. You will then need to clean up some surfaces where the welding will be, place your design out and then start to construct. This will involve grinding, brushing etc.

Day 2
Continue with your piece; bolting, welding, grinding. Complete the sculpture and then take it home

NB. Please wear enclosed shoes, old clothes, make sure arms and legs are covered.

Nick will be there at all times, he will show you how to weld. Do not worry if you feel a little nervous about this process, Nick will help and is happy to do this stage for you if necessary.

Please also bring a packed lunch on both days. Basic tea/coffee making facilities are available in the workshop, if you require anything special (eg. decaffeinated) please bring your own.

The workshop is held at Nick's workshop; Springfield Farm, Salden Lane, Milton Keynes, MK17 0PN.
