Live Music Brandon Allen Quartet
Branden Allen
Originally from Perth, Australia, Brandon Allen moved to the UK sixteen years ago and rapidly established himself as one of this country’s leading tenor saxophonists.
He hosts the legendary late-night jam session, the Late, Late, Late Show, at Ronnie Scott’s .He also is a member of leading US bassist Kyle Eastwood’s band with whom he tours around the world.

His Gene Ammons Project features the music of one of the great stylists of contemporary jazz. Ammons was one of the founders of the Chicago style of tenor playing, and while he was adept at the intricacies of bebop his playing was steeped in his blues and R’ n B roots.
Despite two visits to the penitentiary due to drug problems, Ammons was a prolific and popular recording artist, a richly toned, warm sounding tenorist, who contributed to what became known as ‘soul jazz’. His accessible style was tied to the blues and R&B traditions but, nonetheless, he held a distinctive niche, especially as a balladeer.

The band has recently released its debut album and is touring around the UK and in The Netherlands. It features Hammond organ specialist Ross Stanley on organ and piano, with the hard-swinging rhythm section pairing of Arnie Somogyi (bass) and Matt Home (drums). Expect some serious grooves!

Pinocchio
When Fairy Celestia grants old Geppetto’s wish for a son, his treasured puppet Pinocchio magically springs to life! But there’s danger afoot as the dastardly Mangiafuoco – ringmaster of the Traveling Toy Circus – plots to steal the little wooden boy away to become his new headline act!

Soon Pinocchio finds himself lost in Toyland, whilst Geppetto embarks on a quest to bring his son home. The great wide waves divide them – and where there’s a sea, there are sea monsters…

Featuring, catchy songs, side-splitting slapstick routines, a healthy dose of audience participation and stunning sets, costumes, puppets and props created by the artists and makers of Queens Park Arts Centre, this year’s panto is set to be the biggest and best yet.

The show is produced as part of Queens Park’s in-house storytelling programme Unbound, and once again features the talented students of the Susan Diane School of Dance.

Live Music Carolfest
Bring your family enjoy some relaxed festive singing together, in the warmth and comfort of St Mary's Church.

This is an informal carol service, with no religious content, where you are invited to help fill the church to the rafters with traditional Christmas Carols in a very relaxed, warm, friendly atmosphere. Children from the Turnfurlong Junior School Choir along with Caduceus Brass Quintet and The Wingrave Singers will lead the carols, with Dez Kay compering the evenings singing. We will be serving tea, coffee and hot chocolate with a mince pie or two, courtesy of Tesco Tring Road and the Matrix Scouts, whilst raising funds for the Mayor’s charity, Inspire All.

You and the children can wander round the church whilst enjoying the singing and the entire family can get into the festive spirit with a good old Christmas sing-a-long. Christmas jumpers and festive acesories are very much encouraged.
