More about the Feast Weekend - Saturday 18 & Sunday 19 June 2016 10am-5pm;

Enjoy a taste of history at Waddesdon Manor’s Feast weekend this June. This two day festival is a celebration of food, drink and entertainment inspired by ‘The Baron’s Treat’ where Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild would host local families in the grounds for annual garden parties with games, shows and music.

Visitors are invited to take a seat at the elaborately decorated outdoor dining table and enjoy a picnic or sample some of the food on offer from one of the 60 handpicked artisan food and drink stalls that boast the best produce available from the local area and beyond. Browse the stalls for something to take home with you, from handmade fudge, cheese and bread to artisan drinks… it’s one tasty line-up!

Root Camp are returning for their second year and will be running 1-hour street food cookery workshops for 8 - 18 year olds with chef Sylvain Jamois. These dynamic hands-on courses will allow you to get stuck in and gain a real knowledge of food from field to fork; its sourcing, preparation and enjoyment.

Celebrating not only culinary delights, but also the magnificent setting of Waddesdon, walk through the Manor, stepping into the Red Drawing Room, as if a guest of Ferdinand’s and explore Waddesdon’s history with a specially devised hunt by the outside arts company, Frolicked. You will also be able to enter the wine cellars as well as taking a look at the free exhibition in the Stables of new work inspired by Waddesdon by ceramic artist Kate Malone, (from BBC television’s Great Pottery Throw Down).

A list of the unusual and theatrical performers can be found on our website, from a comedy waiter duo to a Ragroof tea dance.

In addition we will be running family craft activities including poetry workshops and hair garland making classes. There will also be the opportunity to work alongside light artist Anna Whetstone to create gilded bugs and also get involved in a pottery activity with ceramic artist Kate Malone.
