We are currently looking for bank staff for Casual Playworkers for the Jonathan Page Play Centre to assist the team with After School Club sessions and Holiday Playschemes. Applicants must be at least 17 years of age.

Hours and days may vary depending on availability of work Usually between 1.00pm – 6.30pm Term Time and 8.00am – 7pm in School holidays

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

 Essential

Physically able to move equipment

Ability to communicate effectively with children and adults whilst maintaining high customer care.

Ability to contribute to, co-operate with a small team.

Flexible approach

Reliable and good time keeper

Demonstration of initiative

Willingness to undertake training and apply to work

 

Desirable

Level 1 coaching qualification or relevant experience.

Level 2 or Level 3 in Childcare/Playwork

Relevant experience working with groups of school aged children and young people whether paid or voluntary.

Paediatric First Aid qualification

Food hygiene qualified.

Ability to use cleaning equipment and carry out basic cleaning procedures.

Availability weekdays, holidays and for some events evenings and weekends.

Ability to communicate effectively with and contribute to a team

Ability to communicate effectively with children and adults.

 

1.       Job Purpose

To assist in the general running of the Holiday Playschemes and After School Club.

To ensure children travel safely whether by foot or by minibus between schools and After School club/Playschemes.

 

2.       Key Tasks

Delivery of play activities at the After School Club and the Holiday Playschemes, which have been planned by the permanent members of staff.

Contribute ideas to the planning by giving feedback to the Playleader and Playworkers.

 

3.       Duties and Responsibilities

a.      Day to day running of play centre activities as direct by the Playleader/Senior Communities Officer/Playworkers. 

b.      Organisation, planning and running of a variety of games, sports and crafts activities for children attending the After School Club and Holiday Playschemes.

c.      Liaison and communication with all those connected with the Jonathan Page Play Centre, maintaining high standards of customer care.

d.      Maintain high standards of hygiene by cleaning kitchen, toilet and play areas and ensuring these areas are inspected regularly for health and safety purposes.

e.      Keeping all play equipment and materials clean and in good order, and appropriately and safely stored.

f.        Assisting with administrative tasks involved in the running of the After School Club/Playscheme, including the keeping of daily computerised and manual records of user attendance.

g.      Completing registers and accurately communicating all messages.

h.      Ensuring the collection and safe arrival of the correct numbers of children to and from the correct locations. To check names against the register and discuss any absences with school staff.

i.         Attending meetings and training opportunities when requested to do so. 

j.         Any other duties which may be reasonably requested by the Playleader/Senior Communities Officer or Town Clerk.
