Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity is looking for an organised and friendly person to support in the creation, administration, development and management of mass participation events. Your remit will be to assist the Development & Events Manager, in the delivery of an exciting events programme throughout the year and support in the research and planning for the annual programme of events (both existing and new) in line with the Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity strategy. You will be a proactive team player and be able to work well under pressure using your own initiative. If you have demonstrable experience in events coordination and are passionate about fundraising then we would love to hear from you. The role requires some flexibility to work evenings and weekends in the build up to and during events. You must have access to a car and have a full clean driving licence.








JOB TITLE:           Fundraiser – Events Fundraiser


REPORTS TO:       Development & Events Manager


DEPUTISE: Events & Development Manager


  • To work as part of the Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity fundraising team, contributing to an effective & efficient department
  • To build on current mass participation events and work alongside Fundraising Manager and Development & Events Manager (DEM) to develop new ones
  • To contribute to the maintaining of relationships with businesses & external networks




§  To work under the supervision of the DEM

§  Support the other F/R team members wherever appropriate

§  Management of event volunteers utilising their skills and time appropriately

§  To attend events and represent FNHC as required or as requested by DEM

§  Liaise with, negotiate and choose appropriate event venues in conjunction with Fundraising Manager and DEM

§  Preparation of appropriate event materials & resources

§  To be flexible with working pattern including some evening and weekend hours when required



§  To update and maintain the contact management database (Harlequin) adhering to data protection guidelines throughout

§  To register, monitor and manage events on Harlequin ensuring accurate information, reporting & communications

§  Track all costs, expenses, goals and donations by event and type and produce full management reports for Fundraising Manager & DEM


Finance / Income Generation

§  Process and record donations, sponsorship and event registrations  for all Mass participation  events(received via post, online or direct into our bank account) onto the fundraising database (Harlequin) accurately and consistently.

§  Enter amounts on HQ cash log and reconcile with cash, cheques, card transactions

§  Process credit/debit card transactions

§  Cost budget & evaluate all events, prior to and after completion providing relevant financial reports

§  Acknowledge all donations appropriately, using agreed templates, within an agreed target length of time from receipt of donations.



§  Plan, organise and attend events ensuring all queries before, during and after are dealt with in a timely and proper manner

§  Maintain donor & potential donor records

§  Daily post relevant to specifically led events

§  Set up and maintain electronic and hard copy files as appropriate

§  Produce reports, spread-sheets, correspondence and presentations in-line with branding guidelines

§  To monitor and provide correct resources for events



§  Preparation of event materials required adhering to branding guidelines and within budget

§  Under the guidance of the DEM, assist the Marketing and PR manager to promote Mass Participation Events Via multiple channels.


Income Generation

§  To assist in the conversion of enquirers to participants by following up queries within agreed timescales to help achieve target participants per event

§  Negotiation with external agencies under the guidance of DEM and Fundraising Manager



Promoting Florence Nightingale Hospice wherever and whenever possible in a professional manner.



Working within the legal framework and ensuring compliance with the Institute of Fundraising and Charities Commission. 


Other Duties

Any other duties that may reasonably be required.
