Are you ready for the next step of your career? Could you lead a team whilst supporting children with learning disabilities at a residential special school? MacIntyre School in Wingrave, Buckinghamshire are currently recruiting a Senior House Manager to work on the residential side of the school. The school provides 52 week care and education for children and young people with severe learning disabilities, autism and other complex behaviours. The children and young people that live and learn at the school are between the ages of 11 and 19 years.

As a Senior House Manager you will have responsibility for the full range of activities to manage a children’s home ensuring the welfare and safety of each child/young person placed there. You will support the Registered Manager in ensuring a high quality  provision which is providing great experiences and outcomes for the children and young people living there. You will ensure that houses under your responsibility meet and exceed the Children’s homes regulations.

You will line manage Team Leaders and be instrumental in driving the quality of experience for the young people as well as leading staff and making sure that their experience is also excellent. staffYou will be responsible for management of the children’s home in the absence of the Registered Manager, as well as supporting Ofsted inspections as required. The role needs a level of flexibility that will include some evening and weekend work and will include, manager on site and on call duties

What we need from you

The ability to demonstrative relevant experience which makes you suitable for this role. This will include at least two year’s experience relevant to Residential Child care within the last two years and at least one year’s experience of effectively managing professional staff preferably with the residential child care sector. You will also have a minimum of a level 3 Diploma (Children’s Residential).  

A good understanding of the regulatory framework relevant to the provision of residential services for children and young people, as well as a working knowledge of the Children Act 1989, amended 2004, and best practice relating to looked after children. 

It is essential for this role that you hold a full manual driving licence which allows you to drive in the UK, together your own transport which is insured for business use.
