Senior Support Worker - Children's Home

MacIntyre Care

Are you looking for the next step in your career? Want to work at a residential service for children with learning disabilities? You'll be a Senior Support Worker at one of the residential houses in our children's home in the village of Wingrave, between Leighton Buzzard and Aylesbury.

This is a full-time role, working 37.5 hours a week. You will need to work shifts, including days, evenings, weekends and bank holidays. You may be required to cover an occasional sleep-in duty and an occasional "on call" duty.

As a Senior, you'll deputise for the Head of House, ensuring safeguarding and the highest standards of professional practice. You'll work closely with the staff team, carrying out supervisions as needed. You'll encourage them and identify training needs, whether formal or by way of day-to-day coaching and reflection.

You'll provide day-to-day support to five young people aged between 10 and 19. You'll be part of their daily lives, encouraging them to continue the interests and activities they enjoy. Working together with our specialist teams, you will help them manage their behaviours, which can be challenging, as well as providing assistance with personal care.

About us

MacIntyre is a award-winning national charity supporting people with learning disabilities. Our core belief is that everyone has potential, something to offer and a valuable contribution to make to their community.

What we need from you

This is a great step up in your career if you have experience as a care worker, healthcare assistant or similar practitioner. Ideally you will have worked with people who have learning disabilities, but it could also be a good transition if you have supported other vulnerable people.

You'll be someone with initiative and resilience which will enable you to thrive in an ever-changing, demanding but rewarding environment.

You will need to be a driver with a manual licence, probably with your own transport due to the rural location, and so you can drive service vehicles.

Pay and Rewards

MacIntyre provides a full induction and ongoing training, including the opportunity to gain nationally accredited vocational qualifications. We also offer a range of benefits which includes:

  • 6.6 weeks (including statutory public holidays) raising with service to a maximum of 7.6 weeks (including statutory public holidays) after 5 years (pro rata for part time staff)
  • Workplace pension scheme
  • MacIntyre pays for your DBS check
  • Employee Assistance scheme to support your health and wellbeing
  • MacIntyre Staff Savings Scheme
  • MacIntyre Rewards Scheme

Part-time positions are pro rata.
