Team Leader - Children's home

Based in Wingrave

Could you mentor a team whilst supporting children and young people with learning disabilities? Then maybe it's time for the next stage of your career... We are looking for a full time Team Leader to join us at our registered children's home in Wingrave near Aylesbury. We love what we do and are recognised as an award winning charity for our passion and dedication. Join us and you'll soon see why.

You'll join our children's home, working with children who have autism and severe learning disabilities. Part of a close-knit team, you'll support children and young people aged 11 to 19, supporting them with their daily lives and encouraging them to take part in community activities and hobbies. During the day the children go to the nearby MacIntyre school.

These young people have complex needs and each one has their own independent support plan. They may show challenging behaviour but our specialist teams and Frontline Manager will support you to learn ways of helping them to manage their behaviour. There is also a requirement to provide assistance with personal care.

As Team Leader, you will deputise for the Registered Manager. You'll work closely with the staff team, carrying out supervisions as needed. You'll encourage them and identify training needs, whether formal or by way of day-to-day coaching and reflection.

This role is 37.5 hours per week.

About you

This is a great step up if you have experience as a care worker, healthcare assistant or similar. Ideally you will have worked with people who have learning disabilities, but it could also be a good transition if you have supported other vulnerable people.

We're looking for people with initiative and warmth, who can thrive in a constantly changing environment, are confident yet know when to ask for advice, and can work as part of a close-knit team. If this sounds like you, and you're willing to learn, you probably have exactly the qualities our students need. We can teach you the rest.

You need to be able to work shifts including early and late (evenings), weekends, bank holidays and occasional sleep-ins when required.

It is essential you have a full driving licence as you will be asked to drive service vehicles transporting the young people to and from their school.
