Amanda Dodwell is calling on residents for their support in rejecting proposed plans to shut down its police station

The Mayor has told Mix 96, that it has been under threat for over a year.

Some police stations in Hertfordshire have recently closed down their front desks and it's feared Bedfordshire stations could follow suit.

According to Mayor Dodwell, more than 800 signatures rejecting the proposal have been gathered.

She commented, "the petition is asking for a proper manned police station within the town, a proper police presence. We're asking for the police station to remain open and for officers to be moved back from Luton to start their shift in the town".
