There is a meeting tonight for councillors to decide whether-or-not to push ahead with half of the plans for the new look Aylesbury Town Centre.

Regardless of tonights meeting the under construction Waterside theatre and the heaquarters of Peter Jones' new Enterprise Academy will both go ahead.

Tonight councillors will discuss building a new Waitrose near Exchange Street, building a new 80-bed town centre hotel, and changing the roads and landscape around the theatre.

The Cabinet Member for Resources in Aylesbury Vale Neil Blake told Mix96 it's to stop any more delays and make sure it happens. Tonight AVDC's Cabinet will consider taking over the scheme and becoming the developers.

Because of the recession plans for 35 new town centre shops in Aylesbury including a Debenhams are still on hold. Warners, that company due to be developing the town centre, still haven't entered any plans to take the scheme forward. The final plans had been due in October 2009, but an extension was granted until the end of January 2010.

The Aylesbury Vale District Council Cabinet meeting is at 6.30 pm tonight at The Gateway, Gatehouse Road, Aylesbury.
