Aylesbury Nursery Doubles Free Education Provision For 2 Year-Olds

Toddler - Nursery

Another nursery in Aylesbury's planning to double its places for free education for 2 year-olds.

Aylesbury College have been providing pre-school education for years, but is to be extended to offer places for 24 more 2 year-olds by adding facilities like a sleeping room which houses 6 cots.

The planning application to AVDC says:

The three-winged single storey building was completed 4 years ago and has been successfully providing care and pre-school education for 24 2-year-olds, 15 babies (less than 2 years old), and 32 3 year olds. The majority of the pupils are children of students and staff at the College.

A Sure Start centre funded by Bucks County Council operates along side the nursery and pre-school playgroup.

A separate car park was allocated to the whole complex.  Given the current usage this appears to be under-utilised as most of the pupils come with their parents to College.

Since the opening of this small complex the UTC facility has been built, generating the need for additional pupil places for 2 year olds.

It's now a requirement for local authorities to provide free childcare/education for 2-year-olds, so many other schools are expanding their facilities to cope.

A decision on the expansion's expected in June.
