A man's been fined £1,631 pounds for littering near Buckingham.

40 year-old Jason Victor Kay of Brackley Road, Westbury pleaded guilty at Wycombe Magistrates Court.

The court heard that on three occasions from March until May, litter was dropped at a small lay by on Welsh lane, between Buckingham and Brackley.

The incidents were recorded on a hidden surveillance camera which had been installed to target fly-tipping in the area.

When interviewed at a police station by investigators from Aylesbury Vale District Council and Buckinghamshire County Council, Mr Kay admitted dropping the litter. He said that it was very much against his principles but that his 'moral compass' had slipped due to personal circumstances. He said that he was now very much back on track and that it would not happen again.

The Magistrates fined Mr Kay £300 and ordered him to pay clean-up and prosecution costs of £1,311.80. A victim surcharge of £20 was also given.

The case was prosecuted by Buckinghamshire County Council working on behalf of the Waste Partnership for Buckinghamshire.
