Free Wi-Fi In All Of Bucks Libraries

Wi-Fi free in libraries

Published by the Mix96 News Team at 8:00am 27th March 2016.

Every library in Buckinghamshire now has free Wif-Fi.

Thanks to an Arts Council England grant of nearly £50,000 which has funded the project

The latest sites to have Wi-Fi newly installed were community libraries at West Wycombe and Castlefield in High Wycombe, while most other libraries had their life-expired Wi-Fi updated.

Now anyone can bring in their laptops, tablets or smartphones, register online, and get 24 hours of free Wi-Fi.

Free Wi-fi in libraries is part of Buckinghamshire County Council's drive to encourage residents to do business with the council online.

The grant is one of 68 to local councils from an Arts Council fund supporting the development of library services that are fit for purpose now and into the future, which includes tackling digital exclusion.

Martin Phillips, Cabinet Member for Community Engagement and Public Health, said:

"So much of everyday life is now online, and we wanted to make it easier for residents to get access to the internet. Thanks to the Arts Council grant, we've been able to equip every library."
