Aylesbury remains gridlocked this evening after an earlier accident on Oxford Road.

Thames Valley Police have confirmed a 19 year old woman was hit by a mini bus outside the Sir Henry Floyd Grammar School, just after 3pm.

Shes been taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford with serious injuries.

It's reopened in both directions - but its still very busy on all approaches.

Matt Sara was one of the first people at the scene, he told us:

"We stopped, pulled over and because myself and my friend are first aid trained, we got straight out the car and went over to them.

"We saw the girl lying on the floor.

"I got to be honest, it wasn't the nicest experience in the world.

"It's not nice to see someone around your age to be in that situation."

See the video below of the air ambulance arriving at the scene:

Investigating officer, Sgt Dan Collett of the Roads Policing Unit based at Milton Keynes, said:

“This collision has taken place outside the Sir Henry Floyd Grammar School at a time when pupils were starting to leave school.  I would appeal for anybody who witnessed the collision to please make contact with us to help with our enquiries.

“It has been brought to our attention that some members of the public may have recorded events after the collision on their phones. I would urge them not to share the footage or post it on social media to avoid any further upset to the injured pedestrian’s family.

“If you have any information in relation to this collision can contact PC Mike Sapwell from the Roads Policing Unit at Milton Keynes on 101 or alternatively through CrimeStoppers on 0800 555111."
