Aylesbury Man Found The Hero That Saved Him

Luke Delahunty

Published by the Mix96 News Team at 6:04am 15th July 2016.

Aylesbury's Luke Delahunty, 43, who had represented GB in the Invictus Games, was on a hunt for the hero that saved his life 20 years ago.

And, thanks to social media, he found her in less than 24 hours.

Speaking to Mix96, he said he had tried previously to find Karen Davis, the woman who saved him after a motorcycle accident.

"This time I made a webpage and put out a call on facebook and Twitter at midnight and by 9am I had a text saying she had been found."

The event back in 1996 had a profound effect on his life, not just paralysying him, but changing the whole direction of his life.

He wrote on his post:

"The 3rd Of October I was (late for work) riding my motorbike from Norwhich to RAF Honnington; I don't remember the events that followed...

"I went to overtake a line of traffic, being held up by a tractor. The tractor turned in front of me and I crashed into it. The 18 tonne trailer it was towing ran over my chest.

"Karen was in one of the cars I passed, a medic for St John. Without her intervention I would not have survived."

He told us that after receiving the text that she had been found there were 'a few tears'.

They are now planning to meet and Luke reckons it is going to get very emotional.
