Would One Bucks Council Affect Community Groups?

With all of our local councils looking into becoming just one authority, how is it going to affect voluntary, community and charity groups in Buckinghamshire?

That's what Community Impact Bucks are asking and making sure that groups respond to Bucks County Council's review into structure of local government.

Diane Rutter is from Community Impact Bucks:

"We want to make sure that if there are any implications, or any kind of knock-on effects, for local charities or local communities, that they have a chance to think about those and put their voice forward."

They're running workshops this week for community groups, but you can also have a say via this online survey.

BCC are looking at creating just one council, replacing both themselves and the District councils. A report two years ago said that could save around £24m a year.

Meanwhile the four District Councils are carrying out their own review.

Diane told us different issues could come up from all of this.

She added:

"For example, where a group has quite a close relationship with local councillors, maybe they're funded through a local authority, they'll probably have some questions about how that would be affected going forward."
