HS2 'hotline' set up for MPs

HS2 'hotline' set up for MPs

Published by the Mix96 News Team at 7:55am 18th December 2016.

MPs are getting an HS2 hotline, thanks to one Bucks MP.

Cheryl Gillan called for the phone line, so MPs can directly talk to the company behind the plans about constituents' worries.

She told us she hopes it'll improve the poor service they've had in the past.

Mrs Gillan has repeatedly requested that a hotline for MPs should be set up in HS2 Ltd, so that MP enquiries and constituency cases could be raised and resolved more quickly and efficiently.

Confirmation of the hotline was made by the HS2 Ltd Chairman, Sir David Higgins, during a meeting in the House of Commons on 13 December.

Mrs Gillan said:

"I was delighted that the Chairman has instructed the introduction of a hotline, which I have been promoting for some time now.

"Communication and engagement by HS2 Ltd has consistently been poor, even with MPs, which can make assisting our constituents very difficult.

"I am hopeful that this hotline will provide timely, fast and accurate advice, so that I and my fellow MPs can assist my constituents in the best possible way, and I look forward to hearing when the hotline will be launched."
