A road in Pitstone is using it's 20th Christmas lights display to help raise money for a local girl with Rett Syndrome.

11-year-old Frankie Ross was diagnosed with the condition when she was just three years old.

It means that although she was born healthy, as she gets older she loses skills such as the ability to use their hands, walk, talk and sometimes a number of other symptoms.

The condition affects just 1 in 10 000 girls.

Mum Rita Ross said in an interview with Mix 96:

"All you want is for your child to be healthy and have the best life possible.

"It's very difficult on a day to day basis so every bit of help that we get makes such a difference."

Frankie was bought a hot tub as the water was beneficial in relaxing her muscles - but as she has gotten older, she's simply gotten too big to get in and out.

So now the Christmas Lights display on Church Road is raising money help buy a hoist to help.

Rita added:

"The support is overwhelming to see the kindness of people locally. It makes such a difference to have fantastic support from people around you.

"To have this as Christmas makes it all the more special as it's Frankie's favourite time of year."

The lights will be on display on Church Road in Pitstone over the Christmas period - visitors can donate to Frankie as well as enjoy some mulled wine and mince pies.
