Detailed plans for new-look Aylesbury library

Published by the Mix96 News Team at 12:54pm 24th July 2017.

More detailed plans have been revealed on what the new Aylesbury Library could look like.

The idea's to merge the lending and study sites in county hall into one cohesive building.

Head of libraries in Buckinghamshire David Jones told us more about the plans.

"We're going to redecorate and refurbish the library, but it's going to be much more than a lick of paint.

"We'll have a large meeting room, a small meeting room where one-to-one advice surgeries with the Citizen's Advice Bureau and Age Uk can be delivered.

"Much better toilets, better nappy changing, new teenage area, computers, a new children's library."

David told us the way things are set up at the moment - across two different buildings - just doesn't work.

They'll be merging the lending and reference libraries into one space where the lending service currently is.

Work should start early next year and take a few months to complete, if Councillors sign off the plans.

Overall, the project will cost £366,000 but it'll deliver savings at the same time.

Proposals should go on show in August and September, so people can take a look and have a say.

We'll let you know when this happens.
