Kids around Buckinghamshire take 11+ exam

Empty Exam Hall

Published by the Mix96 News Team at 6:38am 14th September 2017

It's the big day for most of Buckinghamshire's 11-year-olds today.

They are taking the 11+ exam - which will decide whether or not they get into a grammar school.

Admission into Year 7 at all schools is managed centrally by Buckinghamshire County Council.

Today the kids will be tested on things like:

  • English (Comprehension, Grammar, Writing)

  • Verbal Reasoning

  • Maths

  • Non-Verbal Reasoning (NVR)

The test has been criticised in the past for favouring families who can afford tutors.

In Buckinghamshire there's an opt out system, meaning kids are automatically entered in for the exam, and parents have to say if they don't want them to take it.
