Gritters out on Buckinghamshire roads... in October?!

Buckinghamshire Gritters

Published by the Mix96 News Team at 2:06pm 12th October 2017. (Updated at 2:09pm 12th October 2017)

People in the Edlesborough and Ivinghoe area might see gritters out on the roads today.

In October... when today the weather looks cloudy with highs of 16c?

So what's going on? Turns out eight drivers from Transport for Buckinghamshire are taking gritter assessments over coming days to ensure they are ready to help keep the roads safe this winter.

Gritter drivers are required to take reassessment every five years, and demonstrate that they can safely and effectively spread salt on the highway.

The County Council are still looking for names for their new gritters; if you have an idea you can email gritternames@buckscc.gov.uk or tweet @tfbalerts.
