A 31-year-old man from High Wycombe has been jailed for eight years for raping a woman in Chesham.

Kemal Arslan, of Kingshill Drive, High Wycombe, was found guilty of four counts of rape following a four day trial which concluded at Aylesbury Crown Court today (12/10).

What happened?

  • At around 11pm on 6 October last year the victim, a woman aged in her twenties, was walking in Elm Tree Hill from the town centre.
  • She was followed by Arslan, who he dragged her behind garages where he raped her. She was able to push him away and escape.
  • Arslan was arrested the following day (7/10/16) and was charged in connection with the offences on 15 April 2017.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Ben Giddings, of Force CID Buckinghamshire, said:

“This was a horrendous attack on a lone female which has had a lasting impact upon her. She has been incredibly courageous in coming forward to report this incident to police resulting in the conviction of Arslan.

“When someone comes forward to report a sexual offence, Thames Valley Police will treat the person with the utmost sensitivity. We work to support victims and investigate so that offenders are brought before the courts to face justice.

“In this case a dangerous offender will have a significant amount of time in prison to reflect upon his actions and I hope this enables the victim to be able to start the difficult process of being able to rebuild her life.”
