Two Bucks men found guilty of historical sex offences

Thames Valley Police 2

5:22pm 13th October 2017

Two men have been sentenced to prison for a series of sexual offences dating back to 1975.

The men cannot be named for legal reasons due to risk of identifying their victims, who are entitled to lifelong anonymity.

They were sentenced at Aylesbury Crown Court today (13/10) and were convicted on 11 September following a four week trial.

What happened?

  • The first man, who is aged 80, and is from Wendover, was sentenced to a total of 18 years’ and six months’ imprisonment.
  • He was found guilty by a unanimous jury of eight counts of indecent assault and seven counts of indecency with a child.
  • The second man, who is aged 57 and is from Grendon Underwood, was sentenced to a total of 16 years’ imprisonment.
  • He was found guilty by a unanimous jury of three counts of indecent assault and two counts of sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 13.
  • The 80-year-old man’s offences occurred in Aylesbury between 1975 and 1982.
  • His victims were two boys and a girl who were aged between four and 12 at the time of the offences.
  • The 57-year-old man’s offences occurred in Aylesbury between 1984 and 1988.
  • His victim was a girl who was aged between 10 and 15 at the time of the offences.
  • The two men were charged with the offences on 20 January this year.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Alex Taylor of the Thames Valley Police Child Abuse Unit, based in Aylesbury, said:

“This has been a protracted and complex investigation over a two year period into non-recent sexual abuse.

“The victims have shown courage and bravery throughout this case where they have been subjected to horrific sexual abuse as children.

“The sentence given by the court reflects the seriousness of what the victims went through and I hope that they can now find closure and move forwards in their own lives.

“This has been a thorough and successful investigation by Thames Valley Police and I would urge anyone affected by this type of crime to come forward where they can speak to experienced investigators in confidence, and will be fully supported.”
