A 56 year old man has suffered potentially life changing injuries after falling from the Bourg Walk Bridge this morning.

The man fell about 30 feet onto concrete below and as a result suffered multiple serious injuries.

Thames Valley Police say they were called at 11.54am by people fearing for the welfare of the man.

South Central Ambulance Service sent a rapid response vehicle and the Thames Valley Air Ambulance was also called to the scene - landing on the playing fields at Sir Henry Floyd School.

After initial treatment and stabilisation at the scene, he was then taken by road to the major trauma centre at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford. The doctor from the air ambulance travelled with the patient.

It's not clear whether the man fell by accident or on purpose, but he is currently getting treatment.

There's been reports that a person has either jumped or fallen from the Bourg Walk Bridge in Aylesbury.

It was cordoned off and as police and ambulance services attended the scene.

They've since left and the bridge has been reopened, as has the road underneath - Station Way.

Although it has been reported that someone has jumped from the bridge we haven't had that officially confirmed, we'll bring you more news as soon as we get it.
