Aylesbury man makes 10 Christmas dinner boxes for needy families

Do you need a little extra help this Christmas, or know someone else who does?

A man from Aylesbury has created 10 Christmas dinner boxes to donate to families who are struggling financially this festive period.

Guy is appealing for people to get in touch, either to ask for a box or to nominate a family, so the boxes can be sent out before the big day.

He said:

"In October I asked the public to "Make-A-Challenge" and set me a challenge to complete in December, as part of my year of fundraising in aid of Make-A-Wish UK.

"One of the challenges I was sent was to "Feed 1,000 homeless people" - it's a big ask and I've really struggled with this one however, I have come up with something I can do.

"I've made 10 x Christmas Dinner Boxes, I'd like to donate these to ten families who are struggling financially this Christmas. It feels like such a small gesture when there are literally millions of people living below the poverty line in the UK. It is, however, something I can do in my local community.

"So the Christmas Dinner Boxes are simply a gesture to local people, it is only 10 and I wish I could do more, but as this is self funded its what I can afford to do. I just wanted to be able to do something good this Christmas, to maybe take one worry away for a family who are struggling."

The boxes include:

  • Large Chicken
  • 2.5kg Potatoes
  • Stew Pack (Carrots, Swede, Onions)
  • Brussell Sprouts
  • 12 Yorkshire Puddings (Frozen)
  • Sage and Onion Stuffing Mix
  • Meat Gravy Granules
  • Christmas Pudding
  • Double Cream
  • Tube Crisps
  • Children’s Chocolate Selection pack
  • Cookies
  • Orange Juice
  • Christmas Crackers

"I will also provide cooking instructions and tips on how to utilise peelings and leftovers."

"Christmas is a time for family and happiness – so, it’s my hope that this could take just one worry away. It’s not much and it won’t solve the problems these families face, but its something."

"So, if you live in the Buckinghamshire area (Aylesbury, Buckingham, Chesham and High Wycombe), please get in touch."

The boxes will be delivered for Friday 22nd December - find out more here - get in touch here.
