School to take back control of Tring's leisure centre?
Published by the Mix96 News Team at 5:41am 13th February 2018.
Plans to update Tring's leisure centre could move forward, if the school takes back control.
Dacorum Borough Council have drawn up proposals to hand back the pool and sports facilities, so new facilities can be built.
The Council would invest just over £1m to give the pool a face-lift at the same time.
The plan will be decided on by the council's cabinet tonight.
If this is agreed, it will secure this as a site for the community until 2042.
Tring School have had plans to knock down and rebuild their sports hall for some time, but that has been held up.
Taking back management of the site will allow this to go ahead.
It'll be worth around £4m.
Dacorum's £1.1m will go towards 'light' refurbishment of the pool and essential maintenance.
The School will have to protect classes and prices for the 12 months from April as part of the deal.
