4 Challenges & 2000 miles for a man from Great Kimble

Guy Stapleford from Great Kimble is covering 2000 miles by bike and on foot to raise money for The Make a Wish Foundation.

Following a successful 13 challenges in 2017, Guy Stapleford, also known as Miles-For-Wishes, is taking on four new challenges this year.

It all starts on the 26th April when he will undertake the South Coast Spring, a 400 mile solo cycle along the South Coast of England, from Dover to St Austell within 40 hours.

In June he will tackle the Welsh 3000s. One of the hardest classic walking challenges, which involves scaling the 15 3,000 foot peaks of Wales in 24 hours.

The Pure Three Peaks is then happening in August.  This challenge consists of cycling the 450 miles between, and then trekking up, the UK’s three highest’s peaks – Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon, all in four days.

Guy will then finish in September, with the big one - the 5 Cities Challenge.  This Involves a solo cycle between five European cities – London, Paris, Luxemburg, Brussels and Amsterdam, he will cover 1,000 miles in just five days!

Guy said:

“I often get asked what inspired me to set the challenge and it comes down to simply wanting to make a difference.  No child’s life should be defined by appointments, hospitals or disability. Make-A-Wish do something for children like Maddy that the NHS cannot – they provide hope, joy and a lifetime of memories for a whole family and that’s something special in my opinion. These wishes can quite literally transform the physical, emotional and psychological well-being of a seriously ill child. So if I can put myself through some temporary discomfort to raise awareness and money to help children like Maddy fulfill their one true wish then I will, time and time again.”

Last year Guy raised over £2,500 by running, walking and cycling over 2,500 miles. Challenges included Tough Mudder and the Bournemouth Marathon and culminated in a 950 mile unsupported solo cycle from John O’Groats to Land’s End in just nine days.
