Aylesbury MP David Lidington has been talking to The National Trust about plans in Bucks.

They discussed concerns with HS2, the East West Rail and the Expressway.

David told us:

"I was struck by the realism of The National Trust, they accept these things are going to go ahead but they want to make sure that landscape and conservation are properly planned into these projects from the beginning and not left to be after thoughts"

The National Trust are in regular talks with HS2 to make sure all their concerns are addressed.

With new developments also planned for the area David told us what they will be thinking about:

"If you're the National Trust or any organisation that's responsible for the countryside or bits of it, how do you balance in that context the need of a growing urban population, for green space for exercise, for recreation with the need also for tranquility and for conservation measures.

"If you look at what we deal with locally to us in Aylesbury, up at Wendover Woods where The Forestry Commission have things like go ape, recreation sporting things but they are also trying to make sure there is space for people just to wander around the woodland in peace & quiet and look after some quite scarce species of plants and animals there as well.

"That in microcosm is an illustration of the bigger strategic conservation and recreation tension that the National Trust and local councils have to try and sort moving forward"
