Rise in number of animals helped by Bucks Fire

On top of putting out fires and cutting people out of cars, Buckinghamshire's fire fighters have been helping a lot of animals.

The latest stats show they helped 74 animals last year, up from 53 in 2016.

In total, Bucks Fire and Rescue dealt with 2,746 non-fire incidents in 2017.

Bucks Fire

This covers everything from car crashes to dealing with hazardous waste.

Some of these were:

  • Road Traffic Collision (RTC) - 575 - up from 531 in 2016
  • Medical incidents - 881
  • 130 lift releases, up from 96 in 2016
  • 2 'malicious' false alarms
  • 68 hazardous materials calls - up from 51
  • 86 calls to remove objects from people
