The fourth Soapbox Derby gets underway in Aylesbury today (17/06).

Over the past 3 years, there have been some amazing karts race through Whitehill Park at the Town Council's event.

These lean mean, racing machines are powered by sheer courage, the gravity of a hill and the big push that it’s give at the start line.

The fantastic day out is open to everyone where you can enjoy a host of activities including music, go-karts, Ride-on Little Tikes for the little ones, swing boats, crafts, games and much more.

We spoke to Jim Webster who has taken part since the very first year, and the last two races he worked alongside the student from Pebble Brook school to build his cart.

He told us all about it:

"Last year it was a wasp and this year it's an ant.

"So every year we try and pick a new insect, so we keep changing it year by year.

So, hopefully there's longevity for the kids and a bit of interaction, re-designing and re-building.

"So, this year it's going to be an ant."
