BCC hoping to encourage more tourism into Bucks

Bucks County Council

Published by Charlotte Fisher at 2:29pm 11th July 2018.

Buckinghamshire County Council is hoping to improve tourism in Aylesbury Vale with their brand new strategy.

The Cabinet are discussing the new Cultural Strategy today (09/07) and how it will be implemented.

We have important links to events and people who have shaped Britain's history and this should be celebrated.

BCC are hoping by improving the hotels and transport we have to offer, so more people will be encouraged to visit.

Currently, they believe the provision of culture, leisure and tourism in Buckinghamshire is dispersed and not well connected, meaning the county isn't maximising the economic potential that it's cultural heritage offers.

BCC need to address:

  • Building better links
  • Devloping the county's hotel and accommodation offer
  • Improving accessibility, including sustainable transport.

The Cultural Strategy hopes to contribute the following outcomes for the county:

  • A thriving economy and the development of high quality jobs
  • Equality of access to cultural activities and opportunities
  • Improved health and wellbeing population
  • Re-vitalised heritage and transformed palces

Through engagement work, a stronger cultural partnership has emerged which will champion the strategy on behalf of Buckinghamshire.

The Council has been a facilitator in the process and the strategy will be owned and delivered by a partnership of cultural sector organisations.
