Bucks pizzeria's fight against major US company

Times are extremely tough for a Buckinghamshire pizzeria, who are being pursued by a major US company.

Monsta Pizza, based in Wendover, have been fighting against Monster Energy Drinks for the last year over their branding.

However, their names are spelt differently and their is no resemblance to the energy drink's logo.

Co-owner Chris Dominey has had enough:

"If we did lose the case, we would have to remove everything, every reference to Monsta off the internet.

"We would be back to square one really and it's just been such a struggle to get going anyway and I don't know whether any of us have the energy or resources to start again."

Their branding revolves around their green Monsta pizza oven, which features heavily on their Instagram.

Co-owner Chris Lapham is the creative behind the Monsta and has spent hours designing images for their social media, which would all have to be removed.

The cost of legal proceedings are proving very difficult for the company and Chris is worried about it's future:

"Hopefully we won't have to close but it will be a lot of work to try and re-brand it, especially as we have built everything around an actual monster.

"I'm sort of on the breadline at the moment, so I might have to look at going into full time work, which means it would be very difficult to keep this going."

They are waiting for the decision of the tribunal hearing that was held last week.
