Group tackling anti-social behaviour in Buckingham sees results

Supporting young people in buckingham

Published by Charlotte Fisher at 5:39am 10th August 2018.

It's been just over a year since the Supporting Young People in Buckingham group was launched.

During that time they've been tackling the worrying issue of anti-social behaviour in the town.

Corrina Martin is the Lead Co-Ordinator and has seen changes in youngsters since the group was formed:

"It does seem to be a bit quieter.

"We don't seem to have the same anti-social behaviour.

"I'm kind of hoping that because people have seen how I go out and approach young people, that maybe they are maybe approaching them in a similar way."

However, they have hit a few stumbling blocks along the way.

Buckingham - welcome sign

Funding hasn't been easy because of the Early Help review, the first consultation was scrapped earlier this year and until the new review takes place they cannot rely on help from authorities.

This has put a strain on some of their services, such as their outreach support.

Corrina is appealing for volunteers from the area to get involved and help out:

"We're still there and happy to give advice but at the moment we are in a little bit of a sticking point.

"What we really do need is do get some more volunteers involved, so we can set up the outreach service."
