Plans for 120 new homes in Stone cause uproar

120 new homes are planned to be built in Stone and people living in the area are not happy.

The proposals for Eythrope Road would ruin the tranquil countryside route into the Waddesdon Estate, which is popular with cyclists, walkers, runner and horse riders.

The site is incredibly precious to locals, it's been identified as an area of attractive landscape in the Aylesbury Vale Local Plan and the road is considered to be a green corridor.

The plans also include onsite recreation facilities but only eight off street public parking spaces.

The development site:

Sue Fox lives on Eythrope Road:

"This is such a valuable resource for local people to access the countryside, when there are a lot of areas around Aylesbury that are being built upon and are no longer accessible as green spaces."

They are also worried that more homes will mean more congestion, especially at the crossroads that lead onto the A418, Sue added:

"The road would no longer be safe, it's hard to imagine how many construction vehicles would be required.

"Then, subsequently, the traffic that the actual site would generate, 120 dwellings you're talking 200 cars."

The Parish Council have organised a meeting today (15th Aug) to seek public opinion, the developers were invited to attended to answer questions but declined.

It will be held at Stone Village Hall from 7-9pm.
