Prisoner absconds from Bucks jail

Martin McDonagh absconds from HMP Springhill

A prisoner absconded from a Buckinghamshire jail yesterday (9/8).

Thames Valley Police is appealing for information to find Martin McDonagh.

He was authorised to leave HMP Springhill yesterday at around 1pm but failed to return at the agreed time of 2pm the same day. 


  • Martin is a white man
  • About 5ft 7ins and stocky
  • Brown eyes
  • Dark brown hair which is shaved.

He has some visible tattoos, including the name Louise on his neck along with an image of a scorpion and the name Teresa on his left wrist.

Investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Glen Turner of the Investigation Hub based at Aylesbury Vale, said:

"Anyone with any information as to the whereabouts of Martin McDonagh is urged to contact police immediately.

"If you see McDonagh, do not approach him, instead call 999.

"If you have any other information about McDonaghs whereabouts please call 101 and quote reference number 731 (9/8).

"McDonagh has links to Oxford, so we would ask residents to be vigilant and look out for him in the city.

"He is serving a prison sentence for a burglary offence after he was convicted last year."
