Aylesbury shopping centre to lose another store

Hale Leys

Another shop is disappearing from an Aylesbury shopping centre.

Brighthouse, in Hale Leys, have named their shop here as one of 30 to shut over the next two months.

It's after the regulator said it would limit the interest companies like Brighthouse could charge.

A BrightHouse spokesperson said:

“We have taken the very difficult decision to close 30 stores in the next two months. All employees affected by our proposals have been informed.

"We are working to redeploy as many people as possible into alternative roles, but redundancies will be inevitable.

"We will be speaking to all customers affected by the store closures and either transferring them to another local store or serving them online.

"We’re also introducing PayPoint, allowing customers to pay BrightHouse in cash at 28,000 locations across the UK.”

Other nearby shops to go:

  • High Wycombe
  • Dunstable
  • Watford

It will mean another empty unit in Hale Leys, after the loss of Clarks, Next/Choice, Poundworld and Vision Express.

There are plans to move a bar/restaurant into the old Next space and managers have said they are working hard to find new tenants.
