Over 500 objections to turn Aston Clinton pub into houses

Rothschild Arms, Aston Clinton

Published by Charlotte Fisher at 11:58am 15th February 2019.

A month after we told you a planning application for a popular pub in Aston Clinton was submitted, it's now had over 500 objections.

The plans for the Rothschild Arms, on Weston Road, are to turn the pub into two terrace houses and a bungalow.

While for the pub's parking opposite, two semi-detached houses have been proposed.

The paperwork went in on Monday 7th January and five days later there had already been over 100 objections.

This, also, isn't the first planning application submitted for this pub.

In December 2017, slightly different proposals were put forward but were refused.

However, the Parish Council are still not on board with the idea and have also objected to the plans for the following reasons:

  • Sustainability
  • Loss of community facilities
  • Loss of employment.
