Gym lockers broken into in Berkhamsted

Published by the Mix96 News Team at 2:16pm 28th March 2019.

After thefts from gym lockers in Berkhamsted, police have released an image of a man they would like to speak to.

There have been four thefts from lockers between November 10th, 2018 and March 2nd at The Fitness Society in High Street, Berkhamsted, which are all being linked.

The offender watched the gym goers enter their codes to secure their lockers and then waited for them to leave to begin their workout.

The offender then stole items from the lockers.

Police would like to speak to the man in the image above as part of their enquiries.d

PC Dani Howlett-Bolton, who is investigating, said:

“Unfortunately in these cases the victims used their bank card PIN number as their locker codes, which meant the offender was able to steal their bank cards from inside the lockers and then use them to withdraw money.

“I’d like to urge people not to use their PIN numbers for anything but their actual bank cards.

"When setting codes for things such as gym lockers please be aware of who is around you and who might be looking over your shoulder.

“We would like to speak to the man pictured as we believe he may have information that could help our investigation.

"We are also working with the gym’s staff to share crime prevention advice and raise awareness among gym goers.”

Anyone who recognises the man pictured or has any information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact PC Howlett-Bolton by email, calling the non-emergency number 101, quoting crime reference 41/60584/18.
